OFFERS AROUND £5,250
Seller Description:
I have decided to sell this beauty as according to my wife I have far too many cars (I only have 6) and at least one of them has to go “It’s me or your cars” she said
Well I thought about it for a bit but try as I might I could not get any of my cars to do the housework or cooking so reluctantly I am going to have to let one of them go.
All joking aside and in fairness I have to admit that I only every use the cars at weekends in the summer months and I never get the time to use them all (just too many Toys) so even though I said I would never sell it; Up for sale it is.
I have owned the car for over 3 years and used it sparingly only doing local mileage and going to shows such as the Woodvale Rally and Tatton Park.
The previous owner to me owned the car for 13 years and maintained the car to a high standard, even recording all the work that had been carried out to the car whilst in his ownership in a little note book which sadly I was never able to keep up.
The car was featured in Practical Classics magazine July 1999 a copy of which will come with the car.
The car has won the following class awards
3rd in Class Woodvale Rally 2008
2nd in Class Woodvale Rally 2010
3rd in Class Woodvale Rally 2011 (6th August 2011)
All the Rosettes will come with the car.
I attended in one of my other cars in 2009 and sadly won nothing ! (Didn’t make that mistake again)
Make no mistakes the car is not concours but the awards above show you that if nothing else the car is pretty decent and there or there abouts.
I would put the car in the Condition 1 category, very, very good and would require minimal work to make concours, but anyway I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
I don’t have the time or the inclination to give a lengthy description of the Spyder as people rarely read it all and only end up asking questions that are already included in the listing so only the salient points are listed below. If you need to know more, then by all means ask via the link or better still come and view the car in person.
The Car
Body
As you can see by the pictures the car is in good condition. The car having benefitted from TLC over the years. The car has had some sympathetic upgrades which have gone to prolong its life.
HPE wheel arch liners have been fitted and rubber impact strips along the bodywork have been fitted to protect the car.
Mention Lancia and everyone goes overboard about rust issues, obviously the car will have had rust at sometime over its 30 year life but there is nothing major on this car to note. No Rust bursting through or holes or parts falling off everything is very presentable.
The paintwork although having been touched up over the years is very bright, with one touch up on the o/s passenger wing slightly darker than the rest of the bodywork ~ not a “biggy” but I thought I would mention it anyway.
All Chrome work is still bright and rust free and the targa top and hood (Quality Mohair not Vynil) are free from rips and damage.
A toneau cover is also present to stow the hood in as you are cruising in the sunshine
The alloys are all kerb free and the tyres have plenty of tread.
Mechanically
Well just look at the engine Bay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have always looked after this car and it has always driven a treat and never let me down, Two months ago I started to notice a drop in power and it was diagnosed as a head gasket problem, So no expense spared off to my local garage for a head upgrade, All gaskets ,bolts, seals ,filter, oil ,belts both cam and alternator were changed and since the head was off giving access I had a new master cylinder fitted and full brake bleed as previously I had felt the brakes were a bit spongy.
This relived me of £1200 but the engine after a tune now appears to be even better than it was before and with a cam belt change having taken place any prospective purchaser should have piece of mind for many miles to come.
The car starts and drives like a dream with no untoward knocks, rattles or whines.
The car has an oil cooler fitted and an extra switch operated electric fuel pump installed in case of failure of the mechanical unit.
Interior
The interior is original black vinyl which usually has disintegrated in most Spyders by now and whilst not in the “flushes of youth” my cars interior is perfectly serviceable with no rips or tares in the seat material. The dash is free from cracks and all the dials and switches work as they should.
Carpets are all good.
On the Road
Forget the X Factor this is were you get the Grin Factor. The car has just been tuned and once the car is on the move accelerating past 2500 rpm you get the feeling that the car has grabbed you by the back of the neck and thrown you down the road, The lovely roar of the two litre twin cam makes this car sound just as good as it looks.
So there we have it a short honest appraisal, as mentioned earlier if you require any further information then please ask.
The car is in good condition and the low mileage of 77K from what I have ascertained appears to be genuine. It’s an eye catcher which draws admiring glances when out and about and is frequently the subject of conversation when enthusiastic and appreciative members of the general public want to stop you and talk all things Lancia.I have been stopped on many occasions with people trying to buy the car. It is MOT’d until Aug 2012 and is currently sorned. The winning bidder would be required to tax the car at their own expense before driving it away.
This car is not a restoration project or any other kind of project requiring work. It is a fully serviceable use “as is” car and looks as good if not better than it does in the pictures. As mentioned earlier this car is a cut above of your run of the mill Beta Spyder and therefore I am not giving it away. Don’t under estimate the expense in getting a Spyder to this condition.
Price wise these cars are definitely on the way up with examples now being advertised in excess of £9K, even the rusty wrecks, MOT failures and cars that are described as Restoration Projects are now realizing close to £2k.
I have been as honest as I possibly can in my description but people’s perception of condition and value differ greatly so if you are unsure then please enquire further, still unsure then please feel free to source another car elsewhere as I like many other Advertisers have suffered at the hands of time wasters on previous endeavours.
Payment is to be either cash on collection or cheque or bankers draft to have cleared before the car can be removed.
Lastly I am no fool and know what the car is worth. I am open to offers but I will not be responding to “Mickey Mouse Offers” along the lines of “Will you take £3K and next doors cat in Part Ex”
I have refused numerous offers on the car before and a Neighbour has offered me £4000 and is waiting in the wings so it wont be getting sold for less than that.
The car has had a serious amount of money spent on it over the years, but more than that it has been looked after, with often less than 200 miles going on the clock per year.
It is a very good example I know it and anyone that comes to see it will see that also.
Rest assured whoever buys this car will be very happy and will be getting good value for their hard earned cash and as previous testimony shows is not out of place at any of the classic car shows.
The car is listed via this classified listing and I strongly advise all interested parties to come and view.If it is not sold during its listing I will not be re listing it again or taking offers on the car after the listings end.
I will not end the Listing early unless the car has either been paid for in full and removed or a deposit has been paid and an agreement has been made with myself for a collection time.
The car is Mot’d to August 2012 and is currently sorned I have only given a brief outline here and can only show 6 pictures should you require any further information or pictures of any particular area then please e-mail me for further details.
