Rare early registered Series 2 Lancia Gamma Coupe in Right Hand Drive with original 30,000 miles from new. This vehicle has come from a Private Collection of important low mileage Lancia's.
Series 2 Gamma Coupe's came with refinements and detailing improvements though very few were ultimately registered worldwide. The majority suffered with corrosion and so they are scarce in such well preserved condition.
This vehcile is featured in the September 2011 issue of Classic & Sportcar Magazine page 126 - 133. The tester was Martin Buckley who is an expert on Lancia's from the 1970's & 1980's. He told us on the day that this Gamma Coupe would be his choice from the Lotus, Mercedes, Lancia line up but his editor felt that he should surprise the readers by selecting a different vehicle as his favourite. The article reads well about this car and everybody was complimentary. If you go to WH Smiths this month you can find 'Auto Italia' magazine November 2011 issue which features a test feature called 'The last real Lancia?' (pages 44 - 49). This vehicle is featured as the Series 2 Coupe representative. Simon Park was the tester on the day and really put all cars very heavily through their paces (he is an ex sports and motor racing test driver). He commented on the day that this car felt tightest and most nimble for sports driving.
This is an excellent example of a rare and highly attractive Pininfarina designed coupe. I have ceovered some long distances and had no mechanical or performance issues whatsoever. It will have a fresh 12 months MOT by the time the new owner collects the car. The paintwork is very good but there are a few very minor flaws, not least a key scratch put in the front o/s wing just this week outside of my friends home - see photo. There is also a small blister at the foot of the n/s sill and on the very bottom corner of the passenger door. These are easily treated and should be done soon to preserve the excellent overall appearance of the car. The passenger door mirror shroud has rust in it but both optional extra electric door mirror operate well, as do both electric windows. The arial on the rear n/s wing needs to be replaced. The original window sticker is still in the rear window of the car and I have original Warranty booklet, Lancia anti corossion 6 Year Guarantee booklet and Coupe Instruction Book.
The original supplier key ring is still with the key and I have a spare set also.
The interior is consistent with the very low mileage and looks particularly attractive in the period dark blue 'L-Cloth' finish. The design of the front seats means that a sharp compenent within the seat pushes through and makes a very small hole on the outer base pad on both front seats. I have super-sized the images in order that you can see this minor flaw. Generally the interior is otherwise superb. The Lancia Gamma Consortium is a small but very well organised group. All members I have had contact with have been enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and helpful gentlemen, so I would urge interested parties to connect with the consortium both to check the details to look for in buying a vehcile and in order to continue to preserve the few remaining examples.
The history file is fairly scant and would suggest that between 2000 - 2008 the vehicle was in storage unused most probably.
